I was born a Catholic (baptized as one at least). I spent many a Christian holiday in some sort of mas or another. Nothing like a good Palm Sunday to suck up a few good hours. My mother decided about ten years into my life that we would become Lutherans (seeing as most of our neighbors were Lutheran, why not), and we spend the next year or so going to the Lutheran church on our periodic holiday visits. We eventually stopped our church going all together...whew...
As I have become older, I have gained a perspective toward organized religion that most would describe as distasteful and loathsome.
BART: Dad, what religion are we?
HOMER: It's the one with all the good meaning rules that never work out in real life (pause) Christianity.
Could it be possible that the Universe is just empty space and particles expanding into infinity? Possibly? Probably.
