I was walking home from the train tonight in a downpour. There was a huge flash of lightning. I paused waiting for the thunder. It thundered, but so loud and so immediate that my heart skipped a beat. I paused again, shaking off the momentary fear, and all down the street car alarms started to go off. Now that's thunder.
